I built this site for two reasons. First, I wanted to create a blog platform that I own. Second, I wanted to challenge myself technically. I wanted my GitHub profile to be a field of green and this seemed like a fun way to do it. I've basically followed these four guidelines as I've developed this blog.

It's me

The writing on this site is in the first person. It's my thoughts and experiences filtered down to a level of anonymity I'm comfortable sharing online. Those thoughts and experiences tend to be literary and liminal.

It's nice

The blog is intended to be kind but not saccharine. I can write about dark things. But I can't write something out of spite or anger.

I can delete any part of it

Tao Lin once posted something on X saying you shouldn't feel bad about deleting posts. He compared them to Instagram stories. That inspired me to prune my posts as I see fit. It lets me avoid perfectionism and stay consistent. The subject matter reveals itself over time.

I can't delete the whole thing

This isn't my first blog. The links in the footer aren't my first, second or third Twitter and Instagram accounts. I've deleted accounts and websites when I got bored. I'm committed to keeping this one going, even if it changes into something completely different along the way.
